Bhangra is the harvest celebration dance of Punjab — big energy, strong shoulders, powerful jumps, and the irresistible pull of the dhol drum. Originally danced to mark the harvest, it carries a collective joy that's impossible to miss.
At Shoonya, Bhangra runs as a single class every Wednesday evening. The Starter Series is how new dancers come in: the first four Wednesdays of the semester, alongside the class. There is no separate beginners group — you dance along.
Four weeks is the smallest real commitment. Dance it four times, and then you know.
Wednesdays 16, 23 and 30 September and 7 October 2026 · 19:30–20:30
Shoonya Dance Centre, Stapelplein 41, 9000 Ghent
€50 for the four weeks. With Swapnil Dagliya, certified Learn Bhangra® instructor.
What to bring — comfortable clothes, proper dance shoes, socks, or barefoot (no outside shoes on the dance floor), and a water bottle.
A Shoonya ID is required to register. It is free and takes a couple of minutes.
Not sure yet? The free trial week runs 14–19 September — just walk in, no registration needed.
