Ready to discover the thrilling world of Lindy Hop? Upside Down invites you to an intensive and exciting Beginner Bootcamp right here in Ghent! Perfect for absolute beginners, this 5-hour bootcamp is spread over two Friday nights, giving you the perfect introduction to the foundational movements of this iconic African-American jazz dance.
What is Lindy Hop? Lindy Hop is an energetic and joyful partnered social dance that originated in the jazz clubs of Harlem. It's known for its rhythmic footwork, playful connection, and endless opportunities for improvisation. If you love the sounds of Swing music, you'll love Lindy Hop!
Your Journey with Upside Down Our experienced teachers, Sep, Leni, and Ann-Sofie from Upside Down, will guide you through the essentials. They focus on building strong connections with your partner and the music, encouraging personal style, and honoring the rich roots of this social dance. You'll learn:
Rhythm and Body Movement: Feel the music and move with confidence.
Spatial Awareness & Partner Connection: Dance smoothly and effectively with others.
Foundational Movements: Master the key steps for any social dance floor.
Tools for Improvisation: Express yourself and have fun with your dancing.
Lead and Follow Roles: Learn both roles or focus on your preferred one.

Bootcamp Details:
Dates: Friday, February 6th, 2026 & Friday, February 13th, 2026
Time: 19:00 - 21:30 (7:00 PM - 9:30 PM) each night
Location: Shoonya Dance Centre, Stapelplein 41, 9000 Gent
Price: 65€ per person for 5 hours of instruction
No Partner? No Problem! Lindy Hop is a partnered dance, but you don't need to bring one! We rotate partners in class, and since you'll learn both lead and follow roles, you'll dance with everyone.
What to Bring:
Comfortable clothing that allows for movement.
Shoes with smooth soles (to help you glide!).
A water bottle to stay hydrated.
Perhaps an extra t-shirt or small towel.
Your Next Steps: After completing the bootcamp, we invite you to continue your Lindy Hop journey with our Beginners Continued series at Shoonya. You can even join the first class on Wednesday, February 11th at 19:30, in between your two bootcamp sessions!
