  • What can you expect from this class?

Tister straddles the rich traditional Congolese dance and percussion culture with one foot while embracing modern dance styles with the other. Dancing and playing percussion were instilled in him from an early age; his parents took him to their ballet group rehearsals, sparking his passion. He joined the group at the age of 10 and realized his desire to deepen his knowledge of dance and percussion. In his youth, he traveled through Congo to study the diverse dance and percussion styles of its 350 ethnic groups firsthand. This experience provides Tister with an endless source of traditional dance and rhythms that inspire him.

Are you an enthusiast of African dance and eager to explore different styles?

During the dance classes, Tister combines traditional and more contemporary Afro and Congolese dance styles, occasionally including the Congolese Rumba (a partner dance). He is also not afraid to incorporate (body) percussion, singing, and more. Expect a lot of intense dancing, immersing yourself in Congolese rhythms, and occasional live percussion accompaniment. The classes are open to both beginners and intermediate-level dancers.
