Opening Party and Participant Performances:
We kickstart each festival with our lively opening party, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience. Dance enthusiasts from all backgrounds come together to celebrate the joy of Indian dance. As a participant, you'll have a unique opportunity to showcase your talent on stage during the opening party.
PROGRAM
The festival kicks off on Friday, followed by a free/public event open to all, including children. Join us for a lively DJ party, indulge in delicious Indian food, and be prepared for exciting surprises. Bring your friends and family to groove to the beats of Bollywood, Bhangra, and South Indian dance hits! Additionally, festival attendees will have the chance to showcase their talents during the anticipated Opening Night performances. Register for the workshops to secure your spot and join the celebration.
On Saturday and Sunday, immerse yourself in a diverse range of Indian dance workshops during the day. In the evening, be captivated by the Gala Night showcase on Saturday. Don't worry about food as Shoonya Art Cafe will offer delectable options throughout the day while the workshops take place. Stay fueled and fully enjoy the Gent India Dans Festival experience.
WOULD YOU ALSO LIKE TO PERFORM AT THE OPENING PARTY?
We have an exciting opportunity for dancers and dance groups who would like to perform at the festival! We'll schedule your performance for our Opening Party on Friday, where you'll have the entire stage to yourself. You can share your new dance choreography, improvisation, or an existing piece of choreography in solo or group (the time limit is 3 minutes).
We will also publicize you as a performing artist on our Facebook event, create social media posts about you, and share photos and videos of your performance with you.
When you fill out the workshop registration form, you can reserve a spot for your performance.
To be able to perform, you must first register either for the Full Festival Pass or a Saturday/Sunday day pass. People of all dance styles (Indian and non-Indian) are welcome to perform at the Opening Party. After you have registered and paid for the workshops, we will contact you personally to discuss details of your performance.

Experience the pinnacle of excellence as we feature a talented ensemble of amateur and professional dancers, who will elevate the show to unprecedented heights. In addition, esteemed guest teachers will grace the stage, accompanied by the renowned ABC a bollywood company and our in-house choreographer, Swapnil Dagliya. Witness the dazzling performances of Swapnil Dagliya's students, showcasing a diverse repertoire of Indian dance styles, including mesmerising Indian folk dances, enchanting semi-classical routines, energetic Bhangra, dynamic Indian contemporary pieces, and much more. Prepare to be enthralled by this extraordinary cultural extravaganza.
YOUR TRANSPORT AND STAY IN GHENT
Shoonya Dance Centre, Stapelplein 41, 9000 Gent, is the festival's location. The venue is easily accessible by public transportation. If you are traveling by train, please reserve a seat to Gent Dampoort Station. The venue is only a 10-minute walk away.
If you arrive by car, there is paid parking on the street in front of the dance school, or you can park at Dok Noord Shopping Mall, which is a 5-minute walk away.
